The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that a serious crash has closed State Highway 1 in both directions between Warkworth and Wellsford.
Transport Agency contractors as well as emergency services are on the scene of the crash, about 7km south of Wellsford but it’s expected to be some time before the road is open again.
Detours are now in place which could add up to 40 minutes to your journey. Motorists are advised to expect delays, avoid the area or delay your journey if possible.
Traffic is being diverted on to State Highway 16.
