Slips and flooding affecting Marlborough roads – check conditions before travelling

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is urging people to check the latest conditions before travelling in Marlborough, with heavy rain, slips and flooding affecting many roads.

Crews are out assessing conditions this morning, with the following closures currently in place due to slips and flooding:

  • SH1 Seddon – closed at the intersection of Fearon Street, next update at 3pm today.
  • SH63 - closed to Anglesea Street, traffic diverted through Renwick, next update at 3pm today.

How do I get to Picton/Blenheim?

People who need to get to or from Picton or Blenheim today should take the Lewis Pass route north of Christchurch, SH7, Waipara turnoff from SH1, then SH65, the Shenandoah Highway via Maruia, SH6 to Murchison then SH63 via St Arnaud to Blenheim. (Reverse for southbound).

There is Stop/Go management and temporary traffic lights in place west of Murchison due to the rockfall last week.

Please allow at least an extra 90 minutes for this journey.
