SH53 Waihenga Bridge reopens

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the SH53 Waihenga Bridge in the Wairarapa is now open.

Please continue to take care driving through the area due to heavy rain, surface flooding and loose debris on the road and be aware the bridge could close again at short notice.

Drivers are urged to check the Waka Kotahi Journey Planner for the information, as conditions on local roads may also deteriorate.

Waka Kotahi is also urging anyone who does need to drive in areas affected by severe weather to adjust their driving to the conditions, which means slowing down, increasing following distances, switching headlights on and watching for flooding and other debris on the road.
