A detour using SH45 is currently in place and road users are reminded to take care while travelling through the area.

The road is closed until further notice.

SH3 further north, between Manganui Road and Awakau Road, near Awakino was closed yesterday after heavy rainfall caused a slip.

Rain is forecast to continue in Taranaki today and Waka Kotahi is reminding road users to drive to the conditions, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, turn your lights on so you’re more visible to other road users and travel at safe speeds.

Drivers are urged to check road and weather conditions online before they travel. If it’s not safe, please delay your journey.
