Changes to Land Transport Rules coming into force on 1 April will simplify regulations without compromising safety, says Transport Minister Steven Joyce.

The Rules are:

  • Traction Engines 2010 (a new Rule)
  • Dangerous Goods Amendment 2010
  • Steering Systems Amendment 2010
  • Work Time and Logbooks Amendment 2010

The eight amendment Rules below make minor changes to Rules and were consulted on in the annual Omnibus Amendment Rule in 2009:

  • Frontal Impact Amendment 2010
  • Operator Licensing Amendment 2010
  • Operator Safety Rating Amendment 2010
  • Passenger Service Vehicles Amendment 2010
  • Vehicle Equipment Amendment 2010
  • Vehicle Exhaust Emissions Amendment 2010
  • Vehicle Standards Compliance Amendment 2010
  • and Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment 2010

Note: Operator Safety Rating Amendment 2010 will be brought into force on a later date by notice in the Gazette.
