Rocks Road temporary closure

|

Rocks Road (SH6), Nelson, has been temporarily closed to traffic because of high seas driven by a strong on-shore wind and a very high tide (4.4m tide) at midday today.

The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists that Rocks Road (SH6), Nelson, has been temporarily closed to traffic because of high seas  driven by a strong on-shore wind and a very high tide (4.4m tide) at midday today.

The road is closed between Richardson Street and Bisley Avenue, Tahunanui.

NZTA Operations Manager, Mark Owen says traffic should use Waimea Road as an alternate route.

“We expect to be able to fully open Rocks Road again in two or three hours.”

In the meantime, Mr Owen said motorists should take care while driving today as very heavy rain is predicted this afternoon in the Nelson Tasman region.
