Resurfacing work on SH29 outside Tauriko School next week

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises scheduled maintenance is planned for a section of State Highway 29 next week.

Resurfacing work will be undertaken overnight on Monday 16, Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 March on a 200m section of highway outside Tauriko School from 6.30pm-5.30am.

Access through the site will be maintained in both directions during the night works and a 50km/h temporary speed limit will be in place.

During the day lanes will be open as usual but the 50km/h temporary speed limit will remain.

Bay of Plenty System Manager Rob Campbell says minor delays are expected during the day and moderate delays may be experienced at night during the works.

“These works coincide with the overnight closures of State Highway 2 Wairoa River Bridge on Monday and Tuesday, so we expect to see an increase in traffic using SH29 on those nights.

“This may cause slightly longer delays at night, however, we do not expect these to be significant as one lane will remain open in each direction.”

Mr Campbell asks motorists to take extra care when driving through the site.

“The safety of road users and road works staff is the priority and we thank motorists for their patience.”
