Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising road repair works on State Highway 2, between Downard Road and Rewatu Road, will get underway from this Monday (12 October).
These works are required to strengthen and rebuild this section of road, to ensure safety and resilience, and are best completed during the warm, dry spring and summer months.
The road will operate under Stop/Go traffic management during the day with a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place during the day and a 50km/h temporary speed limit overnight. Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and allow additional time for their journeys or consider an alternate route.
The works are expected to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.
Bay of Plenty Transport System Manager Rob Campbell encourages motorists to drive with care through the site and obey temporary speed limits to ensure the safety of road workers and other motorists.
