Residents of Bulls and Sanson turned out in good numbers last Friday and Saturday for the drop-in sessions about the speed review and infrastructure improvements between Bulls and Sanson.
Director of Regional Relationships Emma Speight said the high turnout reflected the level of public interest in safety on the highways.
"It was great to see so many people making time to come and chat with the team, and have their say. We really appreciate the effort they took to provide their perspectives and experiences of the road.
“The feedback we receive through this four-week engagement period will help inform the designs for the proposed roundabout. Once detailed designs for the roundabout are complete, we will seek funding for construction and begin the consent application process.
“Securing funding for infrastructure can take some time so it’s likely we will move to implement the speed changes first, as we know they will save lives on a stretch of highway that is in the top 10% in the country for deaths and serious injuries. Before we do, however, we will come back to the community to consult on any proposed changes to the current speed limit.
