Plan ahead to stay safe and avoid delays this Labour Weekend

|

The NZ Transport Agency is advising road users to plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this Labour Weekend.

Regional Transport Systems Manager Mark Owen says roads in and out of Wellington are likely to be very busy, particularly for northbound traffic on Friday 25 October.

“State Highway 1 heading north is likely to start getting busy from 9.30am this Friday, with the busiest times expected to be between 10am and 6pm. On State Highway 2 Remutaka Hill, traffic is expected to build from 1pm.

“Congestion and delays are inevitable at peak times, so we want to remind drivers to leave plenty of time for their journey, plan ahead before leaving home and drive to the conditions.”

To help ease increased northbound congestion, this week’s closure of Paekākāriki Hill Road will be extended. The road will now be close between 12pm and 7pm this Friday.

The regular scheduled 3pm to 7pm Friday closure of Paekākāriki Hill Road will resume from next week.
