NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is advising motorists that due to an over height vehicle strike to the Waterview tunnel, two lanes northbound are currently closed on State Highway 20.
Crews are currently inspecting the damage to the tunnel.
One lane remains open however large queues are forming. We encourage people to delay their travel if possible or choose an alternative route.
