NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise that Orams Road Bridge that crosses the Southern Motorway [SH1] in Manukau City is now closed to traffic for urgent repairs.

The bridge was extensively damaged on Friday, 25 September, when it was hit by the boom arm of a digger being towed on the Southern Motorway.

The NZTA said that the bridge will be closed for about eight weeks while repairs and strengthening work are carried out.  Detours are in place.

The NZTA and Police are investigating the accident to see if the digger’s boom arm exceeded the legal height limit of 4.25metres.
