Otorohanga Road Works- Intersection of SH3 and SH31/39

|

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises that road works to improve the intersection of SH3 and SH31/39 in Otorohanga township are scheduled to begin next week.

The works involve the reshaping of the intersection, strengthening of the pavement, resurfacing with new asphalt and moving of services to accommodate the new road level. Changes in road marking to accommodate the entrance to the new McDonalds will also be undertaken as part of these works. There will be no changes in the existing kerb and channel or traffic islands.

Due to the disruptive nature of the repairs, most of the works will take place at night between the hours of 6pm and 6am. Some works will also be undertaken between 4pm and 6pm during the first two days.

The NZTA Waikato State Highway Manager Kaye Clark says, weather permitting, works will start Tuesday 11 May and will take approximately four days to complete. “While no formal detour will be in place, we recommend the use of Huiputea Drive for SH3 road users, and Clarke/Orahiri/Tutunui Streets for SH31/39 road users, to avoid delays.”

Mrs Clark thanks motorists for their patience during these works.

These works are weather dependant and may be delayed if adverse weather prevents the works being carried out as programmed.
