NZTA works impact on state highway link to Auckland airport

|

The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers there will be day time work on Puhinui Road (State Highway 20B) starting on Monday (24 June), which will have an impact on travel to and from Auckland International Airport.

Necessary improvements to highway drainage will be carried out over five consecutive days between 5am and 4pm

“The work could add up to 5 minutes to journeys, and as this is one of the key routes to the airport, drivers should factor the extra time into their travel so that they reach their destinations safely and on time,” says the NZTA’s State Highways Manager for Auckland and Northland, Tommy Parker.

To keep the airport link open, the NZTA will manage traffic by pushing both lanes onto one side of the highway so that traffic can continue to travel in both directions at all times.

“We regret these disruptions, but this work is an important part of our maintenance programme to ensure this busy and important section of the city’s state highway network is kept in a good and safe condition for all road users,” Mr Parker says.

This work is weather dependent and may need to be carried out on the next available week day if conditions are bad.  For more information visit www.nzta.govt.nz(external link)
