The NZ Transport Agency advises drivers there will be night work on Puhinui Road (State Highway 20B) starting on Tuesday 10 September, which will have an impact on travel to and from Auckland International Airport.
Re-surfacing work will be carried out over two weeks (Sundays to Thursdays) between 8pm and 5am. Detours will be in place during this time. The main route to the airport, SH20a, is recommended as an alternate.
"This work could add up to 5 minutes to journeys, and as this is one of the key routes to the Auckland Airport, drivers should factor the extra time into their travel so that they reach their destinations safely," says the Transport Agency's Highways Manager, Tommy Parker.
"We regret these disruptions, but this work is an important part of our maintenance programme to ensure this busy and important section of the city's state highway network is kept in a good and safe condition for all road users," Mr Parker says.
This work is weather dependent and may need to be carried out on the next available week day.
Please follow the signposted detours. The NZTA thanks you for your co-operation during these essential improvements and maintenance.
