Motorists heading north on SH1 Wellington advised to delay travel

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists of significant delays on State Highway 1 north of Wellington due to a truck breakdown.

The truck is currently blocking the southbound lane just south of Paekākāriki Hill Road, affecting traffic in both directions, however northbound traffic is experiencing the most significant delays.

While the truck is expected to move shortly once repaired, northbound queues are currently through to Porirua and expected to take some time to clear.  

Waka Kotahi is advising motorists heading north out of Wellington towards Kāpiti to delay travel.

Paekākāriki Hill Road, which is usually closed on Friday afternoons, is remaining open to allow light vehicles heading south to avoid the delays on State Highway 1.
