The Luggate Red Bridge on SH8A will be closed for three weeks from mid-May for maintenance work, daytime hours. The 109-year-old, single lane historic bridge is a key link between Tarras and Wanaka/Cromwell.

Abseilers working for Aspiring Highways will be working above the Clutha River/ Mata-Au tightening bolts, and checking deck running boards.
The work will take place each weekday 9am to 5pm, 15 May – 2 June.
People who usually use the bridge daytime hours will need to either take the detour route or travel outside of these times, says Peter Standring, Maintenance Contract Manager for Waka Kotahi in Central Otago.
Aspiring Highways maintenance team maintains the state highways in Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes District for Waka Kotahi.
