Lower North Island/Upper South Island - Planned state highway roadworks

|

Important information for drivers.

Lower North Island

  • Resurfacing work is ongoing on State Highway 2 in the Hutt Valley. Drivers must plan for nighttime northbound closures and local road detours. Please allow extra time for your travel while this work is underway.
  • The SH2 Haywards northbound offramp will be closed  from midnight on Monday to 3:30 am Tuesday for gantry sign replacement work. Drivers intending to travel on SH58 to Pāuatahanui will have to take the Silverstream off-ramp, turn around at the Eastern Hutt Road Roundabout and continue south on SH2 to take the Haywards southbound off-ramp. This will require extra travel time.
    • An overslip on the hill has seen the closure of a slow vehicle lane on the Featherston side of the hill for safety reasons. Further work is planned to remove loose rock at risk of falling onto the road, and safety barriers will be installed to further protect traffic at the slip site this Sunday night. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place while this is completed.
