Important information for drivers.
Important information for drivers
- Staying safe on the roads is incredibly important. Truckies, and those who drive professionally, get to see all sorts of behaviour on the roads – and not all of it is good. Take some tips and advice from Chris Paki, a Fonterra tanker driver.
North Island
- Chip sealing works will be underway at various locations across Wellington and Wairarapa in November. It is essential drivers follow speed limits and obey traffic management when driving through work sites.
- Safety improvements and road reconstruction is underway on State Highway 2 near Mt Bruce.
- Regular users on State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill, need to be ready for planned night-time maintenance closures beginning this Sunday.
South Island
- Contractors are mowing grass at roundabouts and traffic islands on State Highway 6 through Nelson until 14 November. This will affect roundabouts at Beatson Road, Annesbrook Drive, Quarantine Road, and Link Road. Contractors will carry out the work between 7 pm and 5 am. Temporary speed limits will apply where mowing is being done and short travel delays can be expected.
- A closure is coming for State Highway 63, Renwick, later this month for a culvert replacement.
- Maintenance and resurfacing works continue until 24 November on State Highway 60, Tākaka Hill
The details below outline the main planned state highway roadworks occurring in the greater Wellington region and the top of the South Island over the coming week (from Saturday, 28 October).
Further details about regional state highway conditions and roadworks are also published on our website:
NOTE: Roadworks are dependent on weather and other factors. Bad weather can see work postponed to the next suitable night in the works programme.
