Important information for drivers.
Lower North Island
- In Wellington, southbound night closures are planned for State Highway 1 Ngauranga Gorge on Sunday and Monday nights. Night closures are also scheduled for the State Highway 1 urban motorway from 9 February.
- Drivers heading in and out of the Wellington CBD must be ready for nighttime maintenance closures for the Arras and Mount Victoria Tunnels. The Arras Tunnel will be closed on Sunday night and Mount Victoria on Monday night between 9 pm and 5:30 am. Drivers must use alternate routes and allow more time for their journeys.
- Recent wet weather means additional night closures are needed to complete resurfacing work on State Highway 2 between Masterton and Carterton.
- There will be a full closure of State Highway 53 on Saturday for the Martinborough Fair. The highway will be closed in Martinborough to all traffic between Broadway Street and Memorial Square from 5 am to 6.30 pm.
- Those who travel regularly between Wellington and Wairarapa can expect more traffic on State Highway 2 and the Remutaka Hill, with a KiwiRail maintenance closure planned for the Wairarapa Line. The line is closed until 10 February 2025.
Top of the South Island
- Summer maintenance is in full swing in Marlborough
- Resilience work is about to begin on State Highway 1 at Dashwood
- In Nelson/Tasman, night closures are planned for State Highway 6 Whangamoa from 23 February, and resilience work is due to begin at State highway 6 Dellows Bluff on 10 February
