Update: Final stage of rehabilitation works about to be completed for Chapel Street, State Highway 2 Masterton

|

17 June: State Highway 2 Chapel Street will be closed at the Lincoln roundabout again tonight (Monday, 17 June).

This is to allow Chorus to carry out service works in the area.

The closure will run from 9 pm to 4 am tonight. Light vehicles will need to detour down Dixon Street, and heavy vehicles will need to detour using Ngaumutawa Road.

These works are weather-dependent, and schedules may change at short notice.

12 June:

The end of ongoing road rehabilitation works in Masterton is in sight.

Since late April, work crews have been busy carrying out a major rehabilitation of the road’s surface.

Investing in this significant and essential highway improvement means it will need fewer repairs and less maintenance in the future ensuring a smoother and safer journey for all road users.

The project is almost complete. However, some work near Russel Street needs to be finished.

Contractors will carry out this work under a full road closure this coming Sunday night (16 June), between 8pm and 5am.

SH2 Chapel Street will be closed outside of the Warehouse, between Lincoln Road and Renall Street roundabouts in both directions.

Light vehicles will have to detour via Dixon Street while heavy vehicles must use Ngaumatawa Rd.

For the safety of the public and our road crews, drivers must obey all traffic management and temporary speed limits while the road works are ongoing.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance deeply appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this essential state highway maintenance.
