Expect delays on SH1 and SH2 out of Wellington this afternoon

|

The NZ Transport Agency is advising Wellington commuters to travel home before or after the peak times of 3-6pm today, as significant northbound delays are expected due to the cancelled train services.

“We’re expecting a lot more people to be using the state highways to get in and out of Wellington today so delays are inevitable, especially northbound this afternoon,” Regional Transport Systems Manager Mark Owen says.

“The weather is also forecast to deteriorate today which will add to the delays.

“To help ease congestion and spread the peak, we’re advising commuters to head home before 3pm or after 6pm if possible.

“Commuters responded well to the situation this morning. It’s a challenging day but we ask that people remain patient and mindful of other road users as they head home this afternoon.”
