End of major rock stabilisation works at Nevis Bluff expected next week

|

Recent bad weather has slowed progress on completing rock stabilisation works at the Nevis Bluff on State Highway 6 about midway between Cromwell and Queenstown.

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) says the job is now expected to end around Thursday 20 June 2013.

NZTA Central Otago Area Manager John Jarvis says it will be good to have the job done ahead of the start of the busy ski season and next weeks Queenstown Winter Festival. The contractor has recently been able to safely work most days without causing any significant traffic delays.

However, some minor delays of up to 10 minutes will be needed towards the middle of next week. This is to allow the contractor to remove their equipment from the rock face and to carry out general tidy up work including some final rock scaling he said.
