Electronic logbooks a ‘no-brainer’

|

For Mana Transport, it was a simple decision about whether to switch from paper to electronic logbooks.

Electronic logbooks a ‘no-brainer’“It’s a no-brainer,” said Mana’s General Manager Tony Milham.

“With an e-logbook we can get instant visibility in real time across our entire fleet,” Tony says, ensuring compliance, safety and driver hours can all be monitored more efficiently.

The NZ Transport Agency has approved four electronic logbook systems for use, they can be found on our website here(external link). This page also contains information for firms wanting to develop a logbook for approved use within New Zealand.

“The Transport Agency supports any initiative which can improve safety and make being compliant easy for the freight industry,” says David Pearks, Regional Manager Access and Use.

Mana is in the process of rolling out electronic logbooks to its fleet of 40 drivers, following the success of its initial two driver trial, Tony says.

With the ability to have the full range of driver and vehicle information to hand instantly, Tony says the move to electronic logbooks “was not a difficult decision to make”.
