Roading crews will be repairing damaged flexible median barrier at Manawatū Bridge (Whirokino) on State Highway 1 next Monday (18 December).
The work will be carried out between 9am and 4pm and road users can expect delays of up to 15 minutes if travelling through.
Stop/Go traffic management will be in place for the safety of crews and motorists.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Manawatū-Whanganui and Taranaki System Manager Liesl Dawson says we appreciate any delays will be disruptive for motorists, however we want to complete these repair works as quickly as possible before the holiday period and before there is increased traffic on the network.
“We aim to keep traffic moving through the work site as quickly as possible, however, please plan your travel accordingly, and check the NZTA Journey Planner for live updates
“Flexible median barrier saves lives - each time you see a barrier that's been hit, it’s a reminder the barrier has actually done its job and prevented people from crossing over the centreline.”
We thank you for your patience while these important repair works are carried out.
It’s important to stress the men and women you see on worksites, such as Manawatū Bridge (Whirokino) are doing their jobs to keep our highways and local roads safe and up to scratch for everyone who uses them.

It’s the responsibility of every driver to treat roadworkers with respect, comply with the law and not endanger others through their actions.
