Crash repairs on Auckland's Northwestern Motorway

|

There may be short delays for city-bound traffic on the Northwestern Motorway (State Highway 16) tonight as the NZ Transport Agency repairs damage to safety equipment near the Carrington Road overbridge at Point Chevalier

Repairs are required to a crash cushion that was hit by a car this morning, injuring the car’s driver.  The crash closed a section of the motorway’s city-bound lanes during the morning peak and traffic was diverted on to local roads.

The motorway will remain open tonight but with reduced lanes in the vicinity of the overbridge from 11pm.

“We expect the repairs to take about three hours and they will be completed in time for people to get to ANZAC Day dawn services tomorrow,” says the Transport Agency’s acting State Highway Manager Steve Mutton.

The yellow crash cushion has been in position since last October as part of the temporary traffic barriers protecting drivers passing the Waterview Connection works.
