Bridge repair work to start next Monday on State highway 29Omanawa

|

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) advises motorists travelling along State Highway 29 (SH29), near the Ruahihi Power Station at Omanawa, to expect delays as work to repair the Ruahihi (Wairoa River) Bridge will start next Monday (29 July) for the entire week.

The work is to replace the bridge’s expansion joints which is now required.

The highway at this area will be reduced to one lane with traffic being managed through the site with a manual stop/go operation during the day from 7.00am to 6.00pm and traffic signal during the night.

Drivers are advised to take care when driving through this construction area.

Delays are expected and drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time for their journey.

We thank motorists for their patience whilst this much needed repair work is being undertaken.

Motorists wanting to find out more about these road works or the detour route should go to the NZTA’s website at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/current-conditions(external link); or freephone 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
