Breakwater Road repair work to start next week

|

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that motorists should expect delays on State Highway 50 around Breakwater Road Port Gate 3 while repair work is underway, starting Monday 24 February.

The work involves digging out the road surface and resealing the road and is expected to take three weeks. It will be undertaken between 6.30am and 6.30pm on weekdays. During this time, the road will be open, with stop/go traffic management and a 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place.

On weekends, the road will be closed to all light vehicles from 12pm Saturdays until 7pm Sundays. Heavy vehicles will be directed through to Napier Port, while a detour will be in place for light vehicles over the hill via Shakespeare Road and Coote Road.

Prior to commencing the dig out, the Transport Agency intends to undertake kerb and channel work which will begin this week.

The Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
