Certain driving offences incur demerit points. If you need to know how many demerit points you have, you may be able to check online, or request a Demerit points and suspension history.

View your total demerits

You can view your total active demerit points online if you have a verified RealMe identity.

Request a Demerits points and suspension history

If you need your full demerit history, you’ll need to request a Demerit points and suspension history. This will show all your demerit points and demerit suspensions in the last 7 years.

How to apply

You can apply by calling us on 0800 822 422, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5.30pm.

If you're overseas, you can call +64 4 830 3860.

You'll need:

  • the driver licence number (if you know it)
  • licence holder's full name (as shown on the licence)
  • licence holder's date of birth
  • licence holder’s town/city of birth or country if born overseas
  • email address to send the certificate sent to
  • mobile phone number to send the security PIN to.

There is no fee for a demerit points and suspension history. 

We'll email the demerit suspension history straight away. 

Third party requests

Someone else can make a request on your behalf or you can request details for another person. The licence holder will need to provide consent for the third party.

Traffic conviction history

To get a list of traffic convictions and sentencing from court appearances you’ll need to apply to the Ministry of Justice.
