The commercial vehicle safety centre (CVSC) in central Auckland, on and around Stanley Street is now complete.

Weigh-in-motion scales, static vehicle recognition cameras, and Variable Message Signage have been installed at five key locations leading to and from Auckland Ports.

These screen vehicles passing 24/7 and direct any non-compliant heavy vehicles into the Stanley Street CVSC. Police officers on site will check on vehicle weight, road user charges (RUC), certificate of fitness, logbook and driver impairment.

Vehicle screening – how it works

Everyday motorists will not be directed into a CVSC when they’re passing. Light vehicles will have their licence plates scanned and information is anonymised within seconds of being captured to maintain privacy. The exception to this is in the case of stolen vehicles.
