Concrete is a critical component of our infrastructure and transport landscape – but comes at a huge environmental and financial cost. Through research supported by Hoe ki angitū, the NZTA Innovation Fund, Dr Enrique del Rey Castillo and his team from the University of Auckland are investigating how we can use locally-sourced volcanic material to create a more efficient product, that stands the test of time.
